This one was quite a challenge... Having all those small areas that needed a multitude of lights, all blended together, with different colors and without exploding the budget... yes, that was a huge challenge!
I had a lot of fun working on this map, seeing it growing from layout to finish, that was a good experience.

The idea of the map was to be able to see the Cosmo Tower beam from everywhere. Acting like a lighthouse to orient the player

Lights everywhere, different colors, lots of shadows... definitely an interesting area to light !

The Bar.
We needed to attract the player toward the bar. So I used a strong light coming from the window, reflecting on the ground, and a line-shaped lens flare coming from the sign.

The Shop.
Here I used the neon to light the ground and the character, and I used  the signs as well as the shop's backdrop to light the top, giving a nice mix of blue/orange color in the area

The Tree Area.
In this section I used some subtle pinkish lights to give the impression that they were bouncing from the tree itself. The lights look nice on Starlord when you are walking under the tree.

We needed to properly see all the objects inside the triangular tubes, so I emphasized the lights coming from the bottom in order to make the assets stand out.

The Dark Alley. 
The noodle shop was the only light source here, blinking with a huge lens flare to better attract the player

The Maze.
I placed the lampposts in order to highlight the path for the player. This allowed me to show some shadows moving behind them, to give some creepy feeling to the area.

Here I used the industrial lamps to light the area like as if it were a stadium. (As soon as you enter, you will know the show is about to start)
